Father and Child explores the relationship between a Father and Child, which is explored through the diptych structure. Barn Owl and Nightfall are used to juxtapose one another by exploring the dichotomies present in life, regarding old age/maturity & youth, life/death

I believe that the poem may explore the relationship of the fater and child in its diptych format as the first part my be the simple-minded child and the second part would be the more mature father/adult.
