Elective 2: Intertextual Perspectives - Rubric Overview
  • For this module, regardless of the elective, you need to "COMPARE texts in order to explore them in relation to their contexts." English Syllabus p.47
  • CONTEXT then refers to the time in which a text is produced.  The composer then reflects the concerns of their times, whether these be social, economic, cultural, historical or political 
  • Changes in context CAN lead to changed values being reflected in texts
  • When comparing the texts you need to examine and analyse the language forms, features and structures present in the texts, the purposes of the respective composers and the intended audience.\
  • Students should also analyse the content, values and attitudes conveyed in the texts.
The rubric asks students to:
  • COMPARE the CONTENT and PERSPECTIVES in a pair of texts
  • as a results, develop their understanding of the impact of CONTEXT, PURPOSE and AUDIENCE in shaping and creating meaning
  • consider HOW the CONTEXT (socio, cultural, historical) can influence the composers choice of MEDIUM and the language forms, features and structures used.
  • consider the IDEAS which the COMPOSER explores in the text
